Newsletter: November 2022

“Make it stop, no more please, we can’t take any more a couple is more than enough’’.

These are phrases heard by those who have a personal trainer and those who have listened to Slade’s Merry Xmas Everybody for the seventh time (literally had this last week, in October!)

We now apologise to those that will train with us over the next two months and will have to deal with both.

Anyhow… things to discuss - Let’s get to it!

Kickboxing Classes

Kids: Usually Ryan takes care of this segment in the monthly newsletter as he works closely with the kids. As he has been off for some time (more about that below) this month’s shoutout will be a little different due to David, Stu and James assisting with cover.

All three are impressed with the children as a whole and can see that Ryan’s classes have set a precedent in building a good group of little ninjas. They are well-behaved, respectful, inquisitive, and passionate about kickboxing and most of all, are a good laugh!

Parents should be proud of what their children have accomplished, and we can’t wait to see how these lots grow over the years into fine Black Belts!

Adults: One EKA Member that has made the effort this month (and many months before) is Dale. A long-time member of the EKA, Dale has trained his way to his 2 Dan Black Belt, provided countless content in the form of useful and informative blogs and been a staple of the EKA with his good nature towards new members and assistance making them feel welcome.

Not only that he has been putting hours into developing his own physical capabilities. He is in the class twice a week, training on his own using the Gym Access and a weekly PT session with Ryan. Most notably he has pushed himself to improve his dead hang, something James noticed the other day and was impressed by.

Keep up the good work Dale!

EKA Challenge:

Due to Ryan’s time off, the October Halloween challenge didn’t get a chance to be tried out but after September’s brutal 300 squat circuit, we assumed you would all be okay with the month’s rest. Keeping with the monthly themed challenges, this month is all about explosive movements for bonfire night!

The challenge is for you to complete the circuit as fast as you can! The proper form must be used throughout, and the instructor will be watching you all so no cheating! It seems simple but we can guarantee that you will walk away with jelly legs… it’s fine though, it’s not as if you have the rest of the session to complete after

EKA Team

Ryan is back! Many will have noticed the quiet atmosphere as it seems like an age since Ryan was last barking orders to do more burpees!

After dealing with glandular fever for a week which also impacted his time away in sunny Ibiza (although you could be severely ill in worse places) he had a good 3 weeks away from the hustle ‘n’ bustle that is the life of Kickboxing Coach and PT.

He is back to work 100% yet has been advised to go easy with certain tasks for recovery – this means no abdominal strikes and heavy lifting – please be patient and you’ll be able to go heavy on the body conditioning soon enough.

Welcome back Ryan!

EKA Event

We are now in the process of organizing the EKA Xmas Day/Night-out!

Nothing is set in stone yet but the day event for the kids (and those bigger kids too) is currently looking like a toss-up between the usual Jump Inc. and Bowling.

We will be putting out feelers soon to our members to see what engagement we get.

As for the Grown-ups night event, September’s gathering at the Roxy Ball Room went above expectations. We’re thinking along similar lines not booking anything but seeing where the night takes us.
