Newsletter: March 2023

Hey everyone. Another month, another newsletter. Since 2008 Elemental Fitness and the EKA has had a consistent flow of monthly newsletters to inform its members about changes, improvements, and everything else the team think would be of interest to its members.

Since 2008 we went from a 1-man band working in school/church halls to our very own gym and a great team of trainers and instructors. What made this happen was the commitment our members have given us. We can’t run a kickboxing club if there is no-one to teach. We have had some rocky moments in the last few years, and we thanked you all then. Once again, we would like to thank you for your commitment to training and being a bunch of great people to work with.

Kickboxing Classes

Fight Club

The second Fight Club of 2023 has been announced for March 25th after the Adults 11:30 class. If you really want to put your skills to the test, then fight club is for you. we plan to have points fights as well as light continuous rounds with refereeing.

A great opportunity to improve your skills and see how well you do against an opponent in a sports specific setting.

Assistance from the younger generation

We now have 3 junior instructors helping across the EKA. Nikita, Leon and Klaudia are making great progress with their instructing abilities that one day they could well become the next full time evening class instructor.

For now though, they are assisting with class setup and programming with the senior instructors.

Tuesday 19:30 Class Vote

The team have gathered and discussed the potential to bring back the Tuesday class of last year. Currently the Tuesday is running as a beginner sparring class to make up for the drop on Monday as the popularity of the Tuesday made sense.

Previously it was an under one years’ experience technique class. We have listened to our members who have asked for a vote to bring it back. If you wish to see this change or keep the class as is - let the team know. The club is for the members and you guys telling us how you feel allows us to improve our services.

EKA Challenges

February’s challenge was unfortunately cut short due to complaints that it was too difficult therefore Ryan has vetoed the leader board and has declared himself as the winner! Moving onto March’s challenge then, this month is all about your speed and agility. Both are vital components for a kickboxer so why not put them to the test!

Member Mention

Eduard Covoran is this month’s kids shoutout due to many reasons, from his technical ability to his learning capacity, Eduard always gives 110% whenever he steps foot on those mats. Whilst training, he is eager to learn and is a sponge to all feedback that club instructor Ryan gives him. As we are currently writing this, Eduard is a yellow belt with a bright future in martial arts, he is continuously pushing himself in all his classes and is even learning all the kata forms on a Wednesday when he doesn’t need to until red belt, now that’s dedicated! Keep up the hard work, it’ll pay off in the end.

Elemental Kickboxing Academy Day/Night Out

Some plans have been thrown around between Ryan and club members Kath (unofficial events coordinator). Nothing set in stone yet as we want the kid’s day out to be a little different compared to previous (although Jump Inc. is a good shout) and the adults evening plans to have more activities and maybe some food.

As always, we would like to know your thoughts and, for this to go off without a hitch, need any votes and payments as soon as – again depending on the activities we choose. please speak to Ryan or send him an email with your thoughts at Ryanbutler@elemental-fitness.com

Gradings

Now well underway, the March gradings will take around 20+ of the EKA members to their next belt. A great turnout and shows a steady rate of those grading. This will be a good year for the club when it comes to most of its members having a great standard across the board.

We never push grading on those that train at the EKA and instead let the process speak for itself. And having such an abundance of solid kickboxers only cements that grading is a great way to show of one’s ability and level. You also get a nice belt and certificate, as well as the community driven aspect of what grading brings to the table.

Blogs

Ever wanted to become a PT? Either to improve your own understanding of your anatomy or to work on building your own programmes, or (why most of us do it) to tell people to do some insane exercise and watch them suffer? Wellcheck this blog on what is required and what steps are needed to take it to that level.
