Dan Black Belt Gradings 2022

Saturday 25th June 2022 was a great day! I felt such a sense of pride having graded 6 absolute warriors. These 6 have persevered through one of the most challenging times I have experienced as a martial artists and small business owner.

Training with the 6 of you over the past 10 years has been an honour and I'm so pleased to see you all achieve your new grade, the pinnacle 1st degree black belt, or senior dan grade.

Every black belt grading has felt special but this one more so than ever post lockdowns. The additional 2 year wait tested your patience but the end result was worth it.

You have expressed feelings of happiness, pride and overwhelmed. I too have experienced the same observing you all rise to the challenge and overcome internal conflict. This I believe has been amplified by Covid lockdowns, European conflict and economic uncertainty. That said, you refused to give in reinforcing your strength and determination. You had a goal in sight and this wasn't going to change.

The club has trained with 1000s since we opened in 2008 but graded only 20 members to 1st degree black belt or above. This is a testament to the individuals who demonstrate the absolute will and determination to achieve such an incredible accomplishment regardless of outside interference. You have all earned your grade as a result of physical and mental strength which has been achieved through your resilience and personal commitment.
